Autumn- The perfect time for a wellness review!
The crisp morning air, leaves changing color, pumpkin spice everything… Autumn has definitely arrived. This change of seasons brings us a great opportunity to take stock of our wellness.
Summer can be a really busy. We often try to cram as much into the summer as we can- vacations, outdoor activities, grilling, gardening,or whatever your preferred way of spending the warmth of the last few months are. But have you checked to see how you’re doing?
As the days shorten and nights grow longer, nature brings back balance to the circadian cycle. we can use this time to do the same. Getting a bit more sleep is a good place to start. Now is a great time to make sure you’re getting the rest that you need, not only at night, but also recovering from workouts or sports. Rest is an often overlooked part of fitness, but you can’t make gains if you never give your body a chance to catch up!
How about nutrition? Our diets can sometimes take a backseat to other summer activities. Rushing around to get that trail run or mountain bike ride in after work or taking kids to swim practice might mean grabbing something on the go. And who can say no to that ice cream cone after a hot day? Slowing down gives us the ability to focus on fueling ourselves. Remember those foods that energize you, leaving you ready to tackle whatever comes your way? Now’s the time to get back to eating for action!
